Recently I was watching YouTube videos that caused me to be a little pessimistic about the fate of humanity. People hurting each other, outrageous acts perpetrated against innocent victims in the name of “humor”, Christians bashing Christians, Muslims bashing Muslims, Christians bashing Muslims, Muslims bashing Christians, Atheists bashing … well, everyone and anyone and Non-denominational bashing. People hating on each other, the government, the planet, it’s inhabitants. It’s depressing sometimes.
So I wondered if there is actually anything good going on in the world of YouTube. So I went in search of channels that seemed to be about something other then themselves. I found well over a hundred and I’m not done yet.
Over the course of a few days I was inspired, challenged, cried, raged, put my head in my heads in both despair at man’s inhumanity to man and man’s ability to reach out to his fellow man.
Over the course of some time I hope to put together more of a structured list, groupings, etc. Maybe even highlight a few for you by checking out their websites.
Now, my criteria were very simple. I looked for channels that were active (someone had recently logged in, videos had been recently posted) and channels that seemed to be promoting something good or working for something good in the world. I didn’t have a chance to go to each and every organization web page, review their organization and its practices and make a value judgment about the group. I just list them here.
There are groups for all over the world, all over the U.S. and covering a wide range of issues. If you look over the list you’ll probably find something you can get behind, get involved in and support and possibly make a difference in the world.
If you have a site you’d like added to the list or know of a good charity, social, positive channel, let me know (leave a comment) and I’ll add it to the list.

From gay rights to global warming, the jury-selected collection represents the work of a diverse group of independent filmmakers, many of whom are under 21. The films are equally diverse in style and content, with documentaries, music videos, animations, experimental work and everything else in between. What all the films have in common is that they spark debate and action in 12 minutes or less.
Every June, Media That Matters presents a new collection of twelve shorts. The festival launches in New York City with a World Premiere at the IFC Center and an Awards Ceremony at HBO where every filmmaker is honored and many receive cash awards sponsored by major foundations and corporations. Previous presenters include Tim Robbins, Al Franken, David Cross, Woody Harrelson, Barbara Kopple and Peter Yarrow. The festival launch also includes the Media in Action Workshop, a unique convening of filmmakers, educators, activists, nonprofits and youth, hosted by the International Center for Tolerance Education in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
The June launch events are just the beginning of a jam-packed year of Media That Matters. The films stream online in their entirety, broadcast nationally and are distributed on DVD to educators and activists. Media That Matters reaches thousands through community screenings around the country. From classrooms to board rooms, movie theatres to home theatres, hundreds of events take place throughout the year. Arts Engine staff produce and attend many screenings, while many more are organized by individuals committed to change. We provide everything you need to host your own event, and we invite you to contact us for support in bringing Media That Matters to your neck of the woods.

We build moral, political and financial support within the United States for UNFPA. UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, provides womens health and promotes the rights of women in 180 countries. It is the largest international source of such assistance.
We are the official committee for UNFPA in the United States. We are a U.S. based 501C-3 organization funded by private foundations, corporations and individual donors. We were founded in 1998. We educate, advocate and raise funds for UNFPA.
UNFPA, like all UN agencies, is funded by the voluntary contributions of governments and private foundations. UNFPA was founded in 1969.
Our Work
Our outreach has generated tens of thousands of supporters for global womens health and channeled their passion into advocacy on behalf of UNFPAs program. The result is an increase in the U.S. governments contribution to UNFPA to $50 million. (UNFPA, like all UN agencies, is funded by the voluntary contributions of governments and private foundations.)
Our current goal is to gradually increase U.S. funding to $100 million for the life saving work of UNFPA.
Since 1998 we have raised over $40 million to support UNFPAs work from individuals, foundation and corporations.
Each year Americans for UNFPA honors individuals who have made exemplary contributions to womens health and/or the promotion of womens rights around the world. These extraordinary individuals promote women in their own communities, often in challenging circumstances. These are stories of courage and commitment that Americans rarely hear.
Each year an American college student becomes a young ambassador for UNFPA. Chosen for her interest in a career that promotes women around the world, the winner of our Student Award travels to visit one of our honorees, lobbies her members of Congress and educates her classmates on the challenges and solutions to global womens health.

About Me: My name is Shawn & I’m a bit uncultured – here’s why…
In 2006, I was a grad student at Notre Dame. Then I heard Dr. Jeffrey Sachs (author of the book “The End of Poverty”) talk about how it’s our generation’s responsibility to end poverty.
I withdrew from grad school, packed my bags, grabbed my laptop and bought a camcorder and then flew to Bangladesh to see how I could make a difference among some of the world’s poorest.
I’m not a charity or anything formal. This is my unemployed, unpaid, and “uncultured” journey to make the world a better place by helping the poorest of the poor.

Too many children are still dying because they haven’t got enough food or because they can’t get treatment for simple illnesses. Millions aren’t getting an education and are being exploited and abused. This is not good enough.
We’re changing this, partly by working directly with children, and partly by using our experience and influence to persuade governments and others who are responsible for children to do the right thing by them.
We work in a really broad range of countries, from fragile states like Afghanistan, to developed countries like the UK.
It’s simple to save a child’s life. We just need to act
Save the Children – We’re the world’s independent children’s charity. We’re outraged that millions of children are still denied proper healthcare, food, education and protection.

Since 1993, The V Foundation has raised more than $80 million and awarded cancer research grants in 37 states and the District of Columbia. Researchers have developed their laboratories and taken their science from the labs to the clinics with the help of funds raised by The V Foundation.
The V Foundation started with the dream of Jim Valvano, the passionate and committed former NC State basketball coach and award-winning broadcaster, as he battled cancer. Wanting to see the battle through to victory, Valvano recruited friends and family to lead The V Foundation in his quest to eradicate the disease that ultimately claimed his life. With a dire need for early developmental, critical-stage grant support, the Foundation was formed to assist the brilliant young researchers that will eventually find cures for cancer.
The V Foundation awards 100 percent of all new direct cash donations and net proceeds of events directly to cancer research and related programs.

ENOUGH NEEDS YOUR HELP. A deadly war is raging in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, and our insatiable demand for electronics products such as cell phones and laptops is helping drive that conflict.
Eastern Congo is the most dangerous place in the world to be a woman or girl, and the sexual violence there is often fueled by militias warring over conflict minerals, the ores that produce tin, tungsten, and tantalum—the 3 Ts— that end up being used in our electronic devices.
Thirty contestants have posted videos which raise awareness about the link between our cell phones and the violence in Congo. Now our judges, Oscar-nominated actor Ryan Gosling, actress Sonya Walger from ABC’s “Lost,” and Oscar-nominated director Wim Wenders, have selected the best three and it is your turn to vote for who you think should be the winner. Voting ends September 8 and the winner is announced the next day.
The creator of the winning video will be flown to Los Angeles (from within the United States), where the video will be screened at the first-ever human rights symposium during the Hollywood Film Festival (www.hollywoodfestival.com) on October 24 at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. The winning video will also be featured on the Enough Project’s websites and YouTube’s contest page.
Our cell phones don’t have to fuel the deadliest war in the world. Use your cell phone to call on electronics companies to COME CLEAN 4 CONGO.
Don’t we deserve to know whats in our phones?
The contest is being sponsored by Enough, a project of the Center for American Progress to end genocide and crimes against humanity. Enough focuses on crises in Sudan, Chad, eastern Congo, northern Uganda, Somalia, and Zimbabwe. Raise Hope for Congo is an Enough campaign to protect and empower Congolese women and girls.

We are two musicians who have established a non-profit foundation to help support some of the world’s less fortunate. We are trying to give the poor opportunity by supporting microcredit (small loans) education and healthcare. Microcredit allows people to develop small businesses and bring themselves out of poverty. It’s an amazing solution that’s really working and giving the poor a chance for a secure future that they control.

Youth Service America is committed to creating a global culture of engaged youth who are committed to a lifetime of service, leadership, and achievement.
YSA improves communities worldwide by increasing the number and the diversity of young people serving in substantive roles.
YSA will achieve this through public mobilization and advocacy campaigns; the creation of incentives, support, and recognition; and providing information, tools, and training.
Founded in 1986, Youth Service America (YSA) seeks to improve communities by increasing the number and the diversity of children and youth, ages 5-25, serving in important roles. Why? Because half the worlds population is currently under 25 years old, and 40% is under 19 years old. Engaging young people as partners in social initiatives leads to positive youth development outcomes, including academic achievement; benefits to those they serve; and healthier communities.
Since its founding 22 years ago, YSA has been one of the primary architects of the modern service movement, activating innovative new models and strategies to engage youth in service to their communities. YSA was created to coalesce and direct an emerging movement of youth service programs, which formerly existed in diverse and scattered grassroots forms. YSA created a common vision and strategy to enable effective programs to serve as models for support, expansion, and national public policy. In this way, YSA functions as an umbrella organization in all streams for national, community, school-based, and now global service, embracing all faiths, political affiliations, social issues, and demographics through the angle of youth as problem solvers.
Today, as an international resource center that partners with thousands of organizations on six continents, YSA elevates the role of young people as responsible citizens who serve at the local, national, and global level.

This channel is designed to help other people with autism or people with questions about autism. I am still young and have a lot to learn, but I hope to become a psychiatrist. I will be happy to answer any questions ranging from any autistic form(CDD-EIA-AS-PDD Not Otherwise Specified-and more). I am a nut when it comes to this subject. I will not diagnose anyone. THAT IS FOR REAL DOCTORS WITH Ph.Ds ONLY. I hope you all enjoy what I have laid out for everyone. I hope that everyone is kind and I will am very willing to help anyone. My personal information is in about me. My real name is Ryan and my Hebrew name is רנ(Rahn). I hope everyone likes my channel. Starting now, all answers will be messaged to the questioner, written on his/her comment page, and written on my comment page. This is to make sure the questioner gets his/her question, so people on her page can see the answer, and so anyone looking at my page can see the question and answer. I forgot to say where to ask questions. Ask any question about autism in my channel comments. If it is a rude question, I will delete it.
P.S. I will keep up with how many people viewed my playlist. Here is the number below:
Playlist views: 18(A small number, but that is several more people I know who care about autistic people)
P.S.S. I just thought of something. For those who don’t want to publicly display their questions, send me a private message and I will return the favor.
About Me: I am a 16 year old diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at 12. I was diagnosed with all the symptoms when I was about 1 and a half(Asperger’s Syndrome was hardly diagnosed until 1994 and still was unheard of by most doctors. What are you going to do?) After learning I had the disorder, I began to fight it and try to do everything that it would stop me from doing. I don’t want to rid myself of it, however, as it has helped me. Without it, I would have never have wanted to become a future child psychiatrist. I hope to help(not cure) and treat as many autistic children as I can. In words of Dr. Temple Grandin, “If I could snap my fingers and no longer be autistic, I wouldn’t.
New: First, I want to say I am going to be a high school Junior. Just to show everyone that I am preparing to become a child psychiatrist, I will give an overview of my high school courses for this upcoming school year:
